Serbia's golden water polo team welcomed in Belgrade

Serbia's national water polo team arrived in Belgrade on Sunday, <a href="http://www.b92.net/eng/news/society.php?yyyy=2015&mm=08&dd=09&nav_id=95030" class="text-link" target= "_blank">after taking the world water polo title</a> in Kazan, Russia.

Serbia's golden water polo team welcomed in Belgrade

The world champions were welcomed by hundreds of fans, and 18-year-old Nikola Jaksic was the first to appear before the crowd, as, being the youngest member of the team, he carried the trophy.

Serbia won the title by defeating the team of Croatia 11-4 late on Saturday.

Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic and Prime Minister Aleskandar Vucic also met with the team on Sunday.

Thousands of people turned out in front of the Serbian Assembly where the Belgrade City Assembly organized a welcome ceremony in the evening.

This is the fifth World Champion title for Serbia, the first one after the 2009 championship in Rome. The team added the gold medal to the one won a little less than two months ago at the FINA Men's Water Polo World League 2015.
