Aid arrives to flood victims

A convoy of 18 trucks carrying 150 tons of humanitarian aid sent by he Serbian business club Privrednik arrived to Trgoviste, where it will be distributed. “This is the largest package we have received so far. The citizens of Trgoviste show their absolute gratitude for this,” local Assembly Speaker Radoslav Jordanovic said. Aid arrives to flood victims He said that the aid is made up mostly of food, medicine, hygiene products, cleaning products, shoes, clothes, bed sheets, mattresses, furniture, appliances and building materials. “Regardless of the fact that the commission for confirming the level of damage caused by the floods has not finished its job yet, we agree at the last meeting of the crisis council that we should carefully begin distributing the aid that has already arrived,” Jordanovic said. He added that the teams on the ground would give out food to local households immediately, “because people barely have anything to eat”, adding that the second phase would include the distribution of more expensive articles, like furniture, appliances and building materials. The small municipality in southeastern Serbia was hit by floods earlier this month, when two people lost their lives. There are fears that the town would have to be evacuated if local landslides became active.
