The scholarship program is sponsored by the Zoran Djindjic Fund, the German government and a German economic delegation in Serbia. The competition for the 25 available scholarships will be open until December 1, and is intended for final-year students and recent graduates. Fund president and wife of the late prime minister, Ruzica Djindjic, says that the program is very important. “Above all, it signals the hope that Serbia has a future. Her future is determined above all by young people who are prepared to get an education, who wish to better themselves, and who are ready to invest that knowledge acquired abroad in Serbia and in her democratic and European future,“ she said. Marko Cadez, spokesman at the German Embassy in Belgrade, says that it is remarkable how interested German firms are in such programs. “They know the name Zoran Djindjic, many of them who have opened subsidiaries here are looking for people. Indeed, many of those who have returned are now working for similar companies,“ he said. Ruzica Djindjic (FoNet, archive)
