Greeks are today voting in early parliamentary elections to choose a government that will be tasked with leading the country out of the economic crisis. "Greece is on the crossroads. At this point we need responsible and clear policy, because we are facing serious problems," PM Costas Karamanlis of the New Democracy party told his voters, convinced that they would accept his proposed measures aimed at securing "prosperity in the long term". Snap elections held in Greece Opposition socialist PASOK led by George Papandreou is proposing "easier way to stabilize the country", reports say, and is criticizing the current government for not making use of all the potential Greece has. Papandreou, whose party opinion polls put ahead of Karamanlis', promised to adopt an urgent package of simulative measures for the economy, that will include higher taxes for the rich, and "more significant assistance to the poor".
