Austria has proposed its ambassador to Slovenia, Valentin Inzko, to be Miroslav Lajcak's replacement in Bosnia. Lajcak is leaving the post of the High International Representative there to take over as Slovakia's foreign minister. Vienna names Bosnia rep candidate Inzko, an ethnic Slovenian, was Austria's first ambassador to Bosnia, and speaks the local languages, media in Ljubljana are saying. Reports also add that a deadline for the EU members to send their proposals for the position is looming. Vienna's Die Presses daily writes that Slovenia's former Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel is also a candidate, but Slovenia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs denies this. Other possible Lajcak successors include European Parliament rapporteur for Croatia Hanes Svoboda, former Irish PM Bertie Ahern, former EU commissioner Chris Patten, and German diplomat Wolfgang Ischinger.
