The Macedonian and Greek foreign ministers have discussed the dispute over Macedonia's constitutional name. Antonio Miloshoski said that Skopje would not retreat from its earlier position of preserving its language and national identity. Macedonian, Greek FMs in talks Dora Bakoyannis said that there had been no talk of details, but that Greece would not give up on finding a solution that would imply a single name for the Macedonian state. The two ministers said that talks would resume in New York next week, where the UN General Assembly is due to be held. However, Miloshoski has since cancelled his trip to New York, with Macedonian media speculating that this is because Skopje intends to recognize Kosovo’s unilateral independence on September 22. The Macedonian delegation at the General Assembly, headed by President Branko Crvenkovski, set off for New York today.
