The Hague wants Zagreb to establish the circumstances concerning the disappearance of documents in the Operation Storm case. They pertain to the cases against the three Croatian generals indicted before the Tribunal for war crimes during the operation. The Croatian government has found part of the documentation, and claims that the rest does not exist. However, the Hague Prosecution insists that the documents do exist and accuses the Croatian government of helping to hide them. The Hague Prosecution has been after 46 maps and 328 documents on the use of artillery and special police during Storm since 2006. Under the Tribunal’s ruling, the Croatian government is obliged to back up its efforts to find the documents with concrete evidence. Among the things sought by the Hague are the names, positions and phone numbers of the people who found the documents, as well as information on the source of the newly-found documents. The report must contain a detailed list of all the steps undertaken during the investigation by the government in order to find the missing documentation. The Tribunal also wants the names of all the people the Croatian authorities spoke to during the investigation into the missing documents, as well as a report on the documents’ whereabouts since 1995.
