China and Serbia have agreed to strengthen parliamentary cooperation, Tanjug is reporting, citing Chinese media.

China and Serbia "to share democracy experiences"

Xinhua said this was the result of a meeting in Beijing between the president of Serbia's National Assembly, Maja Gojkovic, and Chairman of the Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress Zhang Dejiang.

Gojkovic and Zhang on Monday signed a protocol on setting up a cooperation committee from members of both countries' legislative bodies, the agency added.

The Chinese official said the protocol represented "a new platform for bilateral cooperation and boosting exchanges between legislative bodies."

China's top political advisor Yu Zhengsheng also received with Gojkovic, and said the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), whicih he chairs, "expects to enhance exchanges and cooperation with the Serbian National Assembly, to boost sustained and stable growth of bilateral ties."

Gojkovic started her several-day visit to China on November 25.

The Serbian Assembly announced on Monday that Gojkovic and Zhang said the two country's "steely friendly relations" are characterized by trust, mutual understanding and support, and by intensive development of cooperation in all areas.

The two officials stressed the great importance of the Belt and Road project and China's cooperation with Central and Eastern Europe countries.
