Vucic also told a press conference held at Belgrade's Nikola Tesla Airport that he was "encouraged in the work he is doing by Fiscal Council's latest report," describing it as "always very strict, and stating that the road Serbia has taken is good, and that the fiscal consolidation work has been done well."

He then noted, in this sense and in the context of his possible participation in the presidential elections:

"I will not say anything about it until late January or early February, but you see that Messrs. Seselj, Jankovic, Jeremic are big favorites, they enjoy the public's enormous support, I would say undeservedly, but people are always dissatisfied, think that somebody else would do better, than something might drop in their laps... we will fight and put forward a candidate that could stand against them."

He also told those who insult him and especially his family "to continue that way" but to bear in mind that when it comes to the rating of parties "some which had 9 percent now have less than 5, which is a huge drop, and if they continue this way they won't even be in parliament in the future."

"However, I am happy that there are opposition parties who are starting to understand that what we have done is good," Vucic remarked.

Asked to comment on media reports "and even signs" that Russian FM Sergei Lavrov "said he would support Tomislav Nikolic's candidature," Vucic said he "simply does not want to comment on that," and then added:

"We've never had that problem with Lavrov and I believe he will in no way interfere in the election process in Serbia."
