Opposition sees "obvious preparations" for election theft

Opposition New Party (NS) leader Zoran Zivkovic said on Tuesday there were "obvious preparations for theft in the upcoming election."

Opposition sees "obvious preparations" for election theft

Zivkovic also said his party for that reason set up "the Center for Prevention of Theft and Violence in 2016 Elections."

"We though that the election theft period ended on October 5, 2000, but that obviously had not happened," he told reporters in the National Assembly, adding that "theft has already been recorded in repeated local elections, when obvious new symptoms of the same disease have been observed."

"Preparations for the theft are obvious, we have illegal election of prosecutors, as protection from potential prosecution of those who steal in elections, there is a purge in the police, the mass settling in some Belgrade municipalities, such as Vracar and Stari Grad...," said Zivkovic.

He claims that "about 2,000" people have moved to Vracar from Palilula, where elections will not be held.

"(Slobodan) Milosevic did the same in 1996 and 2000 and the response to him was us organizing well, reporting and warning of any attempt of theft, and physically confronting where it was needed," said Zivkovic.

He added that he "expects it to repeat in 2016 as well."
