BELGRADE Head of the EU Delegation to Serbia Vincent Degert has said that 2012 was a very good year in relations between the EU and Serbia. He added that important steps had been made, including the continuation of the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue. “Serbia makes important steps toward EU” “The arrangement has already been materialized and three meetings with (EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy) Catherine Ashton and her team have been held in Brussels,” Degert noted and commended the Serbian government’s good will in the implementation of reforms. “This has been a very good year in relations between the EU and Serbia, starting from March when a candidate status was granted to Serbia,” he said ahead of the signing of an agreement on EU Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA) for 2012. According to him, despite the energy spent in the election campaign and entire election process in Serbia “we have managed to reconnect in the work on very important issues”. Degert added that Brussels would financially support technical aspects of the dialogue with Pristina, such as issues of cadastre and birth records. Vincent Degert (Tanjug, file) Tanjug
