Feith mandate expires, no decision on successor
The term of the EU Special Representative in Kosovo Pieter Feith expired on Saturday, but Brussels has not yet determined who will replace him at this point.

The term of the EU Special Representative in Kosovo Pieter Feith expired on Saturday, but Brussels has not yet determined who will replace him at this point. Feith's term was originally supposed to end in late February, but the EU foreign ministers decided at a meeting on February 21 to extend his mandate until the end of April, to provide additional time for defining policy and determining how the Union will in the future be represented in Prisstina. Feith mandate expires, no decision on successor The past two months, however, were not enough for the newly formed European diplomatic service to take a decision on the issue. It is expected that until the election of a new special representative, the task will be taken over by Fernando Gentilini, an official in the office of EU High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy Catherine Ashton, which has jurisdiction over the diplomatic service, sources from the EU Council told Tanjug news agency. The decision on who will be the new EU special representative in Kosovo is to be taken by the EU Council of Ministers, whose next session is scheduled for May 13, but it is not certain that this issue will be be on the agenda then, because the meeting will be devoted to trade.
