A Ministry for Kosovo official on Wednesday condemned the latest incidents in the northern part of Kosovo. Oliver Ivanovic and head of the District of Kosovska Mitrovica Radenko Nedeljkovic strongly condemned the incidents when two cars were set on fire in Kosovska Mitrovica and Zvecan. Officials condemn incidents in north Ivanovic told Tanjug that everyone is concerned by the latest incidents in the north, and assessed that the local administration, the Kosovo Police Service (KPS), EULEX and KFOR need to control the situation. "What is especially worrisome is that this could be used by the Kosovo Albanians, as well as some less than friendly elements in the international community, to paint the situation in the north as chaotic. I think that the local administration, KPS, EULEX and KFOR need to control the situation and monitor everything that is happening in the north." "It is in our best interest to maintain peace and stability ahead of the talks between Belgrade and Pristina. Problems like this do not strengthen our position, they weaken it," Ivanovic pointed out. Head of the District of Kosovska Mitrovica Radenko Nedeljkovic condemned all violence and all incidents in which private property was damaged, as well as the demolition of the phone antennas owned by Serbian carriers in northern Kosovo. Nedeljkovic told Tanjug that he and the municipal officials in the north are calling on the EULEX police, KPS and KFOR to solve these crimes in order to prevent political manipulation. Two cars owned by Serbs were set on fire and a third vehicle was damaged early Wednesday in two separate incidents in Zvecan and Kosovska Mitrovica. No one was injured in the incidents, KPS spokesman Besim Hoti said earlier, adding that this is a case of public endangerment caused by organized criminal groups in northern Kosovo.
