They quoted ethnic Albanian Alliance for New Kosovo (AKR) party in Pristina. Pacific island recognizes Kosovo Party representative Mimoza Kusari Ljilja told a news conference in Pristina on Wednesday that that this was “the 67th UN member state that recognized Kosovo”, and said the party was instrumental as Vanuatu made its decision. The party handed out copies of a letter sent by Vanuatu's foreing minister, named as Joe Natum, that “confirms the recognition of Kosovo”. Kosovo's ethnic Albanians made the unilateral proclamation in February 2008. Belgrade rejected it as an illegal act of secession, and the territory has not been able to join the UN.
