Goran Bogdanovic says that the EULEX’s presence in Kosovo is unacceptable without UN approval. The Kosovo minister told EU foreign and security policies adviser Stefan Lene that Serbia would not countenance the arrival of an EU mission to Kosovo that was not confirmed by the United Nations Security Council. Kosovo Minister meets with EU adviser “As a constructive country which aspires to become a member of the European Union, Serbia demands that the EU presence in Kosovo be part of a coordinated international presence, and not part of the Martti Ahtisaari plan, which was rejected by the UN Security Council and Serbia,” Bogdanovic said. According to a statement from the Kosovo Ministry, “Bogdanovic and Lene talked about the situation in Kosovo, the EULEX mission and the UN’s current activities.” Bogdanovic repeated that Serbia did not recognize the unilateral declaration of Kosovo independence, and strongly opposed all decisions taken running counter to Resolution 1244 and other UN Security Council decisions. Lene said that despite the disagreements, he understood Serbia’s position, commending its willingness to enter into dialogue. He also said that a majority of EU members had a very positive outlook on Serbia’s European perspective.
