A group calling itself Anarhosindikalna Inicijativa (the Anarcho-Syndicalist Initiative) has announced protests in Belgrade. The gathering will come in solidarity with five of their members, arrested earlier this week for attacking the Greek embassy in Belgrade with Molotov cocktails. Anarchists set to protest against arrests Interior Minister Ivica Dacic reacted on Sunday by saying that while "everyone is entitled to protest, no one has the right to throw Molotov cocktails at foreign embassies". The five suspects nabbed by the Serbian police (MUP), currently in custody, are looking at international terrorism charges, but their fellow activists say "they are no terrorists". "A proclamation will be read out, we will demand that those arrested and charged be set free, and that they should not be tried for international terrorism. This has not been the first attack on an embassy, there was never an international terrorism trial, and the consequences were much worse," Mladen Stojanovic, of the Anarcho-Syndicalist Initiative, said. "We think the indictment has been politically motivated," he specified. Dacic, for his part, stated that those now in custody were arrested based on evidence and that there is "no reason for anyone to protest over that". The minister added that should a trial show that police made a mistake, "police are ready to admit to making that mistake".
