Vuk Draskovic will press charges against three former Sate Security officials who allegedly tried to kill him. The Serbian Renewal Movement leader and former foreign minister said that he would launch proceedings against Milan Radonjic, Ratko Romic and Stevan Basta over his attempted assassination in Budva, Montenegro in 2000. Draskovic to sue over Budva assassination attempt He said that he would have to launch a private prosecution, after the Belgrade District Court refused to indict the three former security service operatives. “The decision taken by the prosecutor’s office - in spite of all the evidence submitted during the investigation of them illegally filming entrances to my apartment in Budva on two occasions before the assassination attempt, and the photo album they passed on to then National Security chief Radomir Markovic, who supplied the assassins with the information - goes along with the ‘patriotic wave’ that is sinking Serbia once again,” said Draskovic. Last July, the Supreme Court upheld 40 year prison sentences handed to former Red Beret commanders Milorad Ulemek and Branko Bercek, who, among other crimes, were found guilty of Draskovic’s attempted murder in Budva on June 15, 2000. Nenad Bujosevic was sentenced to 35 years, while Leonid Milivojevic and Dusko Maricic were sentenced to 30 years in prison. He said that he would have to launch a private prosecution, after the Belgrade District Court refused to indict the three former security service operatives.

Last July, the Supreme Court upheld 40 year prison sentences handed to former Red Beret commanders Milorad Ulemek and Branko Berček, who, among other crimes, were found guilty of Drašković’s attempted murder in Budva on June 15, 2000.

Nenad Bujoševic was sentenced to 35 years, while Leonid Milivojević and Duško Maričić were sentenced to 30 years in prison.

Radomir Marković and Nenad Ilić received prison terms of 15 years and Milorad Bracanović two.
