Serbia's fruit processing company Nectar has confirmed the acquisition of Slovenia's Fructal company. The Backa Palanka-based food maker now owns 93.73 percent of Fructal - one of the iconic food industry brands in the former Yugoslavia. Company makes "largest Serbian investment in Slovenia" Nectar representatives told Beta news agency on Tuesday that the contract was signed the day before, while reports from Ljubljana said the acquisition was worth EUR 35.3mn. A Tanjug news agency report today puts the figure at "EUR 50mn". Nectar is a privately-owned company founded in 1998. Fructal was previously owned by Slovenia-based Pivara Lasko. Mounting debts forced the Lasko Group to start selling off all assets in its portfolio that were not directly linked to the brewery's primary activity. The takeover is yet to be approved by Lasko's assembly of shareholders, which has been scheduled for July 30.
