Farmers in a village near Belgrade sold a total of 250 hectares of fields for some EUR 60mn, a daily says. According to Blic, the village of Zuce, on the foot of Mt. Avala, has profited from the projected Belgrade bypass and the proximity of the Belgrade-Nis highway. Price of land up 6,000 pct, farmers make EUR 60mn The location appealed to the likes of Eurosalon and Elp gas stations so much that they raised the price of land 6,000 percent as they set out to buy. Some plots of land, previously worth EUR 50 per 100 sq meters, now go for full EUR 3,000 for the same area. All this means that most of the village's 3,000 inhabitants turned rich overnight, the article deduces. The newspaper's reporters were curious to find out how this money is spent, and discovered that in addition to building new houses, the farmers have since the start of this year purchased "around one hundred motorcycles and several latest Mercedes cars".
