In the next two years, Greece will invest another EUR 2bn in Serbia, President of the Hellenic Business Association Vasileios Ntertilis says. 50 more companies will come to the Serbian market, he added Wednesday. Greek investors plan to spend EUR 2bn Speaking in a news conference called to present the Hellenic Business Association plans for 2008 at the Greek ambassador's residence, Ntertilis said that with EUR 2bn already invested in Serbia, Greece held the top spot in the list detailing the size of foreign investment in the country, "although some data indicated differently". Stressing that Greek companies in Serbia employ more than 25,000 people, and that there was a good business environment here, Ntertilis said that Greeks operate in the telecommunications, banking, finance, tourism, textile and metal processing sectors, as well as in agriculture and food-processing industry. He reminded that the Hellenic Business Association was set up in 2004 with the aim of improving and supporting Greek investments in Serbia, and promoting better cooperation between the two countries, and that more than 50 percent of all Greek companies operating in Serbia were members of the Association. Ntertilis also said that it was important for Greek businessmen to have political and business stability in Serbia and that Greece was 2with Serbia on the road of changes it faced in the transition period". He told journalists that "as far as he knew", there were no announcements that Greece might recognize Kosovo Albanians' unilateral declaration of independence. Greek Ambassador to Belgrade Christos Panagopoulos, speaking on the same occasion, said that it was important for Serbia "to continue towards and get as close to Europe as possible", and added that it was Serbia's internal issue whether "pro-European parties will win at the forthcoming May 11 elections."
