The tender commission is set to open the technical bids in the RTB Bor copper complex sale today in Belgrade. Cypriot SMR, a part of Russian Basic Element and Austrian consortium A-TEC have submitted offers. RTB Bor technical bids to open According to the tender conditions, investment program must amount to at least EUR 180mn, while the figure stood at EUR 60mn in the first tender. This obligation is mostly related to the construction of a new smelter, while the social program envisages no layoffs in the next three years, except in cases when workers and the employer agree on redundancy packages. If the deadline for collecting missing documentation is not extended, the opening of the financial bids will be scheduled for next week, when the winner in the tender will be known. The commission has announced in its meeting last week that the price offered will be the only criteria for ranking participants. The starting price for RTB Bor mines and smelter facilities is EUR 340mn, with five companies having bought tender documents, but only two eventually submitting their final bids.
