Old border crossing at Horgos operational again

Beginning from Friday afternoon, the Horgos border crossing will be open to passenger traffic only from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. every day of the year.

The crossing, one of the seven border crossings between the two countries, was opened today by foreign ministers of Serbia and Hungary Ivica Dacic and Peter Szijarto.

Dacic said that the opening of the crossing was an example of good cooperation between the two countries, regardless of the migrants issue facing us and Hungarians putting up a fence along the border with Serbia, which was something Serbia did not like but could understand reasons behind making such a decision.

Dacic said that the two countries were making effort to implement strategically important economic projects and projects vital to both the region and the entire Europe, including an overhaul of the Belgrade-Budapest railway.

The opening of the crossing is a result of an agreement the two countries reached in 2012, thanks to which the Backi Vinogradi-Asotthalom crossing was opened a few years earlier.
