Europe in fear: "War with Iran is more dangerous than Ukraine – the consequences will be enormous"

In an interview with the newspaper La Repubblica, Crosetto was more direct than ever, emphasizing that the threat is not only military but also social and economic.

"Due to the nature of my job, I have access to information that keeps me awake at night. I fear what could happen in the coming weeks, as well as the consequences it will have on the economy and daily life," Crosetto stated.

The minister also stated that Italy has not been involved in making the key decisions that led to the current tense situation.

Crosetto emphasized that his country does not support a war with Iran and that "no one asked for our opinion," adding that he believes the conflict could be longer and more complex than the war in Ukraine, primarily due to Iran’s strength.

"Iran is larger, more populous, and historically stronger than Ukraine, which makes it a formidable opponent," he warned.

Although he did not go into details, analysts believe his concern largely relates to the Strait of Hormuz, a critical point for global energy trade.
