War continues; Hezbollah rejects ceasefire with Israel

The group said in a statement that it had “officially informed Lebanese President Joseph Aoun of its rejection of the agreement, insisting that any acceptable deal must begin with Israel’s complete withdrawal from all Lebanese territory,” Sky News reported.

Hezbollah added that it also considers the return of displaced residents, reconstruction efforts, and the release of Lebanese prisoners to be “essential conditions for any future agreement.”

The Iran-backed militant group was not part of the negotiations that led to the ceasefire deal, according to Sky News.

Earlier today, the administration of US President Donald Trump announced that Israel and Lebanon had agreed to implement a ceasefire. The two countries also released a joint statement regarding the ceasefire agreement.
