Is huge chaos coming? Iran gets Putin's deadly weapons — PHOTO
The Kremlin, it is reported, began secret talks with Tehran just a few days before Donald Trump launched Operation ‘Epic Fury.’
Drone deliveries reportedly began in early March, according to multiple intelligence sources, and the entire operation is expected to be completed by next week.
Russia is also, according to Western officials, sharing satellite imagery and target data with Iran.
One Western official fears that Moscow is not only trying to boost Iran’s firepower but is also helping to “strengthen the regime.”
Are “Geran-2” drones arriving in Iran?
“They don’t need more drones. They need better drones. They want more advanced capabilities,” Antonio Giustozzi, senior research fellow at the Royal United Services Institute, told the Financial Times.
The exact models remain unclear, but Russia will likely deliver drones similar to the “Geran-2,” based on Iran’s “Shahed-136.”
Russian versions of the Iranian drones, which have been in use in Ukraine since 2023, have been significantly modified to evade air defenses and carry a heavier payload.
“The Russians have dramatically improved the ‘Shaheds,’ including modifications to the engine, navigation, and jamming capabilities,” Nikol Grajewski, a professor at Sciences Po in Paris, told the Financial Times.
Kremlin denies
Meanwhile, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov dismissed claims of drone shipments, saying: “There is currently a lot of false information circulating. One thing is true — we continue our dialogue with the Iranian leadership.”
Israel reportedly attacked a key supply route between Russia and Iran on the Caspian Sea last week.
Russian military technology was also reportedly found in an Iranian drone that struck a British airbase in Cyprus.
Investigators believe that the suicide drone that struck the British base at RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus contained a Russian‑made Kometa‑B navigation system.
This aligns with reports stating that remnants from the March attack on the base included Russian technology recovered from the drone wreckage.
Iran has made cheap drones a key element of its military strategy, firing more than 3,000 across the region since the fighting began.
Analysts note that Iran’s strategy relies heavily on inexpensive, one‑way attack drones like the Shahed series, which have been launched in large numbers to overwhelm air defenses and project force across multiple countries.
The country is also working on strengthening its air defense
Moscow and Tehran have already reached an agreement on hundreds of launchers and thousands of missiles over the next three years.
However, Moscow has drawn a line on selling its S‑400 system, cautious not to provoke a direct confrontation with the United States.
Deploying such advanced technology would likely require Russian crews on the ground, potentially putting them in direct combat with U.S. forces.
