Horror near Sombor: Truck crashes into road workers - Two dead; Traffic completely halted

Two people lost their lives this morning in a serious traffic accident at the entrance to the village of Kljajićevo near Sombor, when a truck crashed into workers who were carrying out reconstruction work on the road.

According to unofficial information from the scene, the truck driver lost control of the vehicle for reasons that have yet to be determined and crashed directly into the roadworks area.

The force of the impact left the two workers with fatal injuries, and they died at the scene. Medical teams that quickly arrived could only pronounce them dead. 

Residents recall that this sharp bend has for years been notorious as one of the most dangerous accident black spots, where frequent and serious crashes have occurred.

Traffic police officers and the competent prosecutor’s office are conducting an on-site investigation to determine the exact circumstances and cause of the tragedy.
