"Air Serbia" issues urgent statement; First plane with evacuated Serbian citizens lands in Belgrade

The plane, which was scheduled to depart from Dubai to Belgrade at 8:20 p.m. Central European Time last night, took off shortly before midnight, Air Serbia announced.

In its statement, Air Serbia said that, as it has done so far, it will continue to inform the public in a timely and transparent manner about all relevant circumstances regarding its operations and the situation in air traffic.

The national airline Air Serbia has drawn public attention to inaccurate and unverified reporting by certain media outlets regarding the current situation in air traffic, and appeals to the media to act professionally and in the interest of citizens when reporting on matters concerning safety and aviation.

“Any irresponsible dissemination of information intended to confuse the public or to portray the national airline in a negative context without basis is considered unacceptable and inadmissible,” the company stated.

In circumstances of heightened sensitivity, especially regarding citizens located in areas affected by security challenges, the airline emphasizes that it is of utmost importance for information to be communicated responsibly, accurately, and verified.

“Exploiting citizens’ concerns for sensationalist reporting is inappropriate and can further contribute to unnecessary public anxiety,” Air Serbia stated.

The first flight from Dubai to Belgrade, following the suspension of flights due to tensions in the Middle East, took off last night at 2:29 a.m. local time, or 11:29 p.m. Central European Time, according to the Dubai International Airport website.
