The Iranian Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Hamnei, has moved to a special underground shelter in Tehran after senior military and security officials assessed that the risk of a potential U.S. attack has increased.

Hamnei has moved into a fortified bunker, which is connected to other facilities by tunnels, Iran International reports, a London-based site that broadcasts news in Persian, citing sources close to the Iranian government.

Sources stated that Masud Hamnei, the Supreme Leader’s third son, has taken over the day-to-day management of Ali Hamnei’s office and serves as the main channel of communication with the executive branch.
