Scandal after the ceasefire; Israel breaks the agreement – border closed
Israel has decided not to open the Rafah border crossing between the Gaza Strip and Egypt tomorrow, as required under the Gaza ceasefire agreement.
The reason is that the Palestinian militant group Hamas has not fulfilled its obligation to return the bodies of all deceased hostages still held in the Gaza Strip, reports the Times of Israel.
It has also been announced that Israel will reduce the amount of aid entering Gaza as part of sanctions against Hamas.
These measures follow assessments by Israeli defense officials that Hamas has not made sufficient efforts to return the remaining hostage bodies.
Yesterday, Hamas released 20 living hostages, who had been taken during the October 2023 attack in southern Israel, and handed over the bodies of four deceased hostages, while 24 bodies are still in the Gaza Strip.
