Trump: This is not just the end of the war, this is the end of terror; They will be disarmed
Addressing those gathered in the Israeli parliament, the Knesset, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that not only has the war in the Gaza Strip ended, but that this marks the end of terror.
Today, as U.S. President Donald Trump said—each pause in his speech met with thunderous applause—20 brave people have returned from captivity, while the remains of 28 Israeli hostages will also be returned.
Not only has the ceasefire taken effect, weapons have fallen silent, sirens have stopped, and the sun has risen again over the Holy Land. “This is not just the end of the war, but the end of terror,” Trump said.
According to him, the negotiations were far from easy, as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was no easy negotiator either. “He’s a tough negotiator, but thank you, Bibi,” Trump said.
The U.S. president expressed special gratitude to his special envoy, Steve Witkof, who led the negotiations to end the war in Gaza, recalling an anecdote when Witkof spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin for five hours.
“I asked him, ‘What did you talk about with Putin for five hours?’ and Witkof told me they discussed many important things. I said all that could have been said in much less time, but that’s Steve Witkof—he’s wonderful and has an incredible talent for negotiations. You can’t be a good negotiator if you’re not a good person,” Trump noted.
He also thanked other senior U.S. officials involved in the negotiations, including Secretary of State Mark Rubio and Jared Kushner.
“The hostages are now home—this is the first time I’ve said that, and it sounds good,” Trump said, adding that he resolved eight wars in eight months, emphasizing that he does not like war.
“I have made America great again, rebuilt and strengthened the military, even though we gave a lot to Israel. Bibi called me so many times asking if I could send this or that weapon. And obviously, you used it well,” Trump added.
He also reminded the audience of how the war began, citing the massacre of Jews on October 7, 2023, which he called the largest Holocaust since World War II.
“Never forget, and never again,” Trump told the Knesset, receiving another huge round of applause.
“This is a historic dawn for a new Middle East,” said the U.S. president.
Trump also thanked the Arab states that participated in the negotiations, calling it an “incredible achievement” that all parties cooperated.
He added that this marks the beginning of a “golden age for Israel,” as well as a “golden age for the entire region.”
“Hamas will be disarmed, and there will be no further threats,” Trump stated.
He also noted that the war had become “ugly,” which made the ceasefire agreement timely, adding that he would be a partner in implementing the peace plan.
Finally, he announced the formation of a “Peace Committee,” emphasizing that every country requested him to serve as its chairman.
