"We are not afraid of war, we are ready"
The protection of the Druze in Syria and their rights is a priority for the Syrian authorities, Syrian interim President Ahmed al-Sharaa said today.
He addressed the citizens after yesterday's Israeli attacks on southern Syria and airstrikes on Damascus, emphasizing that he rejects any attempt to drag Syria into war, Reuters reports.
"We are not among those who are afraid of war. We have faced challenges all our lives and defended our people, but we have put the interests of the Syrians before chaos and destruction," Al-Sharaa said.
He added that the Syrian people are not afraid of war and are ready to fight if their dignity is threatened.
In connection with the conflict in southern Syria, Israel previously attacked several targets in Damascus yesterday, including the Defense Ministry building, and according to information from the Syrian Ministry of Health, three people were killed and 34 were wounded.
The Druze and Bedouins have previously concluded a ceasefire three times, but each time they quickly violated it and continued fighting in the city of Sweida, where the majority of the population is Druze.
