Israel leaves UNHRC; Serious accusations are being made - more than 100 "condemning resolutions"
Israel will leave the UNHRC, Minister Gideon Sa'ar said, accusing it of protecting human rights violators, demonizing Israel and promoting anti-Semitism.
Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar said Israel would withdraw from the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC), accusing the body of "protecting human rights violators" while, he said, "demonizing" Israel and "propagating anti-Semitism."
"Israel joins the US and will not participate in the UNHRC," Sa'ar wrote on Platform X.
Sa'ar stated that the UNHRC focused on attacking Israel, which he said is a democratic country, and that the body propagates anti-Semitism, instead of promoting human rights.
He said the UNHRC has passed more than 100 "condemning resolutions" against Israel, more than all resolutions against Iran, Cuba, North Korea and Venezuela combined.
US President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that the US will withdraw from the UNHRC and will not continue funding the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).
Trump also withdrew US participation from the Human Rights Council in June 2018 during his first term in the White House.
