Then Miroslav's Gospel, the oldest preserved Cyrillic manuscript book, received international recognition - a UNESCO certificate.

On this occasion, in the next 10 days at the National Museum of Serbia, citizens will have a unique opportunity to see Miroslav's Gospel live.

Miroslav's Gospel, composed at the end of the 12th century, consists of 181 pages, and was commissioned by Miroslav, the Duke of Hum, the elder brother of the great prefect Stefan Nemanja.

It was kept in Hilandar, where Serbian monks took it before the Ottoman invasion and then handed it over to King Aleksandar Obrenović at the end of the 19th century when he visited the holy Serbian Lavra and took it to Belgrade for the first time. During the First World War, it made its way through Albania, Corfu, the Thessaloniki front, until returning to the liberated Belgrade, and during the Second World War, it was hidden in the safe of the National Bank in Užice and under the altar of the Rača monastery.

This liturgical book, decorated with gold and miniatures, is considered not only a masterpiece of medieval art, but also a symbol of Serbian literacy, cultural identity and statehood.

Since 2005, it has been in the UNESCO Register of World Documentary Heritage "Memory of the World".

This is a rare and precious opportunity for all visitors to meet one of the most significant monuments of Serbian and world cultural heritage.
