Get ready for hell: "Pluto" invades Serbia, and then "Vienna Gate" awaits us

Above most of Europe there's an intense field of high air pressure that prevents the penetration of rain-bearing clouds from the north while at the same time bringing a warm air mass from the north of Africa, said Euronews Serbia meteorologist Ljubica Gojkovic

As she says, precisely because of this, the weather will be stable, dry and sunny in the next seven days, and in the following days we will also expect a change in the direction of the wind to the south and southwest, which is why the temperature will reach the 40th degree by the end of the week.

Gojković explains that the additional feeling of warmth will be due to completely clear and calm weather, because already today the wind will be significantly less intense.

The second half of this week brings us even warmer weather, and forecast models already predict up to 38 degrees for tomorrow.

"The hottest days of this heat wave will be Friday and Sunday, when it is forecast to be up to 40 degrees in the shade. The biometeorological situation will be very unfavorable in the coming days, especially for people with heart problems, but also for meteorologists. Extremely hot weather causes severe heat stress in people with heart problems, but also in healthy people, which is why it is best to avoid being outside during the hottest part of the day," says Gojković.

"Pluto" followed by "Vienna Gate"

Meteorologist Ivan Ristic reminds us that we are under the influence of the African anticyclone called "Pluto", which brings huge heat domes of subtropical origin from the center of the Sahara desert, which is why the end of June was hot in Spain and France with maximum temperatures of up to 44 degrees.

"At the beginning of July, hot African air will cover most of Europe and bring record temperatures all the way to Denmark. The peak of this heat wave is expected here on Thursday and Friday, on July 3 and 4, with plenty of sun, the highest temperature will range from 35 to 40 degrees. In Ćuprija and Leskovac and some other cities, the maximum on Friday will exceed 40. In larger cities, especially in Belgrade, tropical nights are also expected when the temperature does not drop below 20 degrees", says Ristić for Kurir and adds:

"Until Tuesday, July 8, very warm and sultry weather will remain with the maximum temperature on Saturday, July 5, from 34 to 38 degrees Celsius, and again 35 to 40 degrees on Sunday and Monday, July 6 and 7. It will be sunny with weak and moderate development of daytime cloudiness, short-term showers are possible in the hilly and mountainous areas of western and southwestern Serbia."

According to his words, in the period from July 8 to 15, there will be a weakening of the African anticyclone and its push towards Africa, as a result of which the "Vienna Gate" will open for a short time and there will be a penetration of somewhat fresher, but also more humid, air on the Balkan Peninsula.

"We are expecting transient clouds that will cause showers and rain accompanied by thunder, in some places also local disasters accompanied by stormy winds and hail. For now, the models do not indicate large amounts of rain, but in any case, every drop of rain means a drought that has been present since June. The highest temperature will drop by seven to 10 degrees to a value of 28 to 33 degrees. The morning temperature in this period is mostly between 15 and 20 degrees Celsius," says Ristić.

Ristić announces that the second half of July will bring a gradual stabilization of the weather and the return of the African anticyclone, which will cause great heat again in the third decade of July.

"The hottest period will be around July 24, when the highest temperature in many cities will again be around 40 degrees or slightly higher. As for the favorite sea tourist destinations, the weather will be nice, warm, without any major changes. The Mediterranean Sea is recording record temperatures that go up to 30 degrees," he concluded.
