Vučić in New York: "Amid global challenges, it is essential to preserve space for dialogue and cooperation"
President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić took part in the P4M Summit, “Partnership for Multilateralism, International Law, Peace and Prosperity,” ahead of the opening of the UN General Debate.
“In a time of deep divisions and increasingly complex global challenges, it is essential that we work together to preserve space for dialogue, cooperation and the peaceful resolution of disputes, with a strong role for the United Nations.
Today, more than ever, we need responsibility, mutual respect and a willingness to compromise. Only through the consistent application of jointly agreed principles and obligations can we rebuild trust among states and ensure lasting peace and prosperity for future generations.
Serbia remains firmly committed to respecting international law and the Charter of the United Nations, because only on these principles can we build a fairer and safer world,” Vučić wrote on Instagram.
Vučić is in the United States, where he will attend the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly and address participants on Wednesday, September 23.
During his stay in New York, Vučić will hold bilateral meetings with numerous world leaders and representatives of the international community, according to a statement from the Office of the President of the Republic.
On Sunday, Vučić said that in his upcoming address to the United Nations General Assembly, as always, he would highlight Serbia’s position, which, as he put it, is “on the European path, but also belongs, according to various parameters, to the Global South, and is close to both African and Asian countries.”
“I will speak about our position, but also about all the deceptions we have gone through over the past—not 15, but 30 and 35 years; about false principles, hypocrisy, double standards, and everything about how and why they explained to us that it was necessary to extradite our people to the Hague Tribunal, and then everything would be fine. We extradited them, so to speak, in sacks, and got nothing in return. We signed numerous agreements, and every agreement we signed was violated by those who were supposed to guarantee them, not just by some other party in the region,” Vučić said.
