He noted that this sends a strong message to Albin Kurti, Xhelal Sveçla, and those in positions of power that their human rights violations do not go unnoticed and that they must immediately change their behavior.

Speaking at yesterday’s UN Security Council session, responding to claims made by the acting Foreign Minister of the provisional Pristina institutions, Donika Gervalla-Schwarz, Djurić emphasized that Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić has never issued any war-mongering statements and has consistently advocated for economic cooperation through initiatives like the Open Balkans, which has created a unified labor market between Serbia, Albania, and North Macedonia.

Djurić pointed out that Kurti’s government rejects any such initiatives and continues its repression.

The Foreign Minister also dismissed accusations against Serbia of alleged genocide, stressing that the term “genocide” should not be misused, particularly for political or sensationalist purposes.

“Such rhetoric, blanket assessments, and claims without any evidence or legal procedure are irresponsible, unfounded in reality, and serve only to score cheap political points,” Djurić emphasized.

He added that such irresponsible statements also undermine the possibility of progress in normalizing relations between Belgrade and Pristina, as well as between Serbs and Albanians.

“When discussing the ethnic composition of the population in Kosovo and Metohija, past and present, the facts should be clearly presented: today, over 90 percent of the population in Kosovo and Metohija is Albanian, and in previous decades, Serbs were victims of crimes, forcibly expelled from their centuries-old homes, and compelled to leave their houses in significant numbers,” Djurić noted.

He recalled that more than 200,000 people from Kosovo and Metohija were displaced to other parts of Serbia, without the opportunity or conditions to return to their homes.

He emphasized that the authorities in Pristina, instead of accusing Belgrade based on false claims, should allow humanitarian workers, such as Milorad Arlov and others who have been denied entry, to do their work in Kosovo and Metohija.

“Most UN member states support the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Serbia over its entire territory, as recognized by the UN. In fact, over the last decade, 27 countries have withdrawn recognition of the unilateral declaration of independence, while only three new countries recognized the so-called independence. We are not interested in this type of competition or political quarrel, but we will always firmly stand by our position on Resolution 1244, our Constitution, and international law,” Djurić stressed.
