The IRGC warned that aggression and attacks would not achieve the “enemy’s desperate desire to undermine the Islamic Republic’s control over the Strait of Hormuz,” adding that every strike would be met with an even stronger response.

Meanwhile, the IRGC issued a second statement announcing that a U.S. MQ-9 drone had been shot down over the Strait of Hormuz.

“A few minutes ago, the U.S. long-range MQ-9 unmanned aerial vehicle was hit by missile fire from the ever-vigilant warriors of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ modern air defense forces over the Strait of Hormuz and crashed into the waters of the Persian Gulf,” the IRGC said in a statement.

The IRGC attacks came after the U.S. Central Command and U.S. President Donald Trump announced last week that the Strait of Hormuz had been cleared of mines.

U.S. forces struck two Iranian rocket launch sites on Larak Island on Sunday, a small Iranian island in the Persian Gulf at the eastern end of the Strait of Hormuz, an unnamed U.S. official confirmed, ABC News reported.

He said that U.S. forces are closely monitoring the situation in the area and remain prepared to protect the free flow of commerce through this vital waterway.
