Before today's session of the conference of NATO foreign ministers in Bucharest, Asselborn said that China interprets human rights in its own way.

He considered it good that U.S. President Joe Biden and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz spoke with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

"We are on the same page when it comes to Russian threats with nuclear weapons. I believe that China also wants this war against Ukraine to end and that a nuclear disaster does not occur," Asselborn explained.

He pointed out that there are many parts in our mobile phones and cars that come from China and that it is necessary to take care not to create a new addiction. He criticized the use of force against protest participants in China, stressing that in the 21st century, citizens cannot "put themselves in one frame and tell them that there is only one philosophy, and that of the state."

"People aspire to freedom, and the Chinese will have to realize that", Asselborn emphasized. He said that the images coming from Iran and now from China are not positive images in the 21st century.

"We should let them attack Russia"

Latvian Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkēvičs called on NATO to "allow" Ukraine to use Western-supplied weapons for strikes on Russian territory.
