The president underscored that "to the pride and joy of all, Serbia is getting accustomed to victories."

"By winning the bronze medal at the European Championship, you have made our country proud and confirmed that the talent of young players and work of the experienced chief coach and expert team yield top results. From your famed predecessors, you got medals, successes and a brave heart that defends the colors of Serbia. Today, you added this medal to that legacy," Nikolić said in his message.

The men's volleyball team won the bronze by beating Bulgaria 3-0 (25-22, 32-30, 27-25).

Serbia did not manage to defend the title of the European Championship, which it won two years ago in Austria, as it was defeated by Russia on Saturday.

This is the seventh bronze medal for Serbia at the European championships, and the last one was won in Moscow in 2007.
