Cooler weather in Serbia after hottest day of year

Serbia is still experiencing the heat wave but the temperatures are expected to be lower on Tuesday than yesterday's maximum for 2013 so far.

Today, they will range from 16 to 24 at the low end, to highs of 29 to 37 degrees centigrade.

Veliko Gradište in eastern Serbia reported 27 degrees at 05:00 CET this morning, making it the hottest town in the country.

Belgrade was at 26, while at the same time, Mt. Kopaonik enjoyed the air temperature of 16 degrees.

Meanwhile, thunderstorms hit northern and western parts of the country.

Local thunderstorms are expected during the first part of the day in Belgrade, with temperatures ranging from 24 to 30, and sunshine in the afternoon.

Yesterday, Veliko Gradište reported 40 degrees while the highest temperature in Belgrade was 39 degrees.
