Sneakered-up Albanian PM left out of family photo with Pence

Albanian PM Edi Rama has taken his casual style to yet another official gathering - this time, the US-Adriatic Charter Summit, held in Montenegro on Wednesday.

The summit was attended by US Vice President Mike Pence and several regional prime ministers, including Rama, who showed up wearing a suit, and a pair of sneakers.

Rama has demonstrated his fashion style during important meetings in the past - most recently in Trieste, during the Western Balkans Summit.

The head of Albania's government wrote on Facebook after the gathering that the main topics included stronger ties between Western Balkans countries and the US, and within the region.

But in their reports from the summit, Albanian media on Thursday noted that Rama was left out of the "family photo" with Pence - with his predecessor, Sali Berisha, claiming that the reason were Rama's white sneakers.

And while Pence's visit to the Western Balkans is described as one of the most important recent events, these reports also note that the US vice president "never said a single word about Albania's role in the region."
