"Unrequited love" results in murder-suicide in Belgrade cafe

A man in his 50s on Monday shot and killed a waitress before committing suicide in a cafe in central Belgrade, B92 has learned.

The incident happened in the Fracci cafe in Strahinjica Bana Street.

Unofficially, the motive behind the murder-suicide was "unrequited love."

According to eyewitnesses, the man spent about two hours in the establishment before producing a pistol and killing the woman, in her late 40s, and committing suicide.

Other patrons in the cafe at the time of the incident said that "nothing indicated that the crime was about to happen."

B92 has received confirmation from emergency medical services that a man and a woman lost their lives at the location, and that a team dispatched to the scene found both dead.


Gendarme jailed for 40 years in double murder case

The Higher Court in Kraljevo has confirmed the 40-year prison sentence previously handed down to Aleksandar Krstic, who was charged with double murder.
