NATO is a dinosaur that has outlived its usefulness if it ever had one. This relic is still being kept alive because the Americans see it as a way to stay relevant in Europe, but their own stupidity has made that impossible as NATO, supposedly the most powerful military machine in the world, has had its arse kicked in Afghanistan and will leave with no objective achieved. Within hours of it leaving the Taliban will return to power and declare Afghanistan an Islamic republic. Remember that NATO threw everything at the Taliban.
The Americans had the same result in Iraq and left defeated. You do not survive a loss of this magnitude and neither will NATO. The Europeans will form their own force and leave the US to fend for itself.

I fully agree. As my idol, the CE of B92 forums sj, has shown with brilliant analysis, USA has finally collapsed, and the superpowers Serbia, Russia and China rule the world, and, of course, Kosovo and thus Serbs should these days be happier than ever and celebrate.

On the issue of Belgrade recognising Kosovo through the local election, If that is recognition then it’s one of the strangest I’ve ever seen. How the EU has allowed itself to agree to this dog’s of a breakfast arrangement I’ll never know. Its turning Kosovo into another Bosnia.

Difficult to sell NATO to Serbian public just after recognizing Kosovo's independence (without recognizing, bla, bla...)
You will get NATO membership the same way, through the backdoor, and without Vaseline!
Wake up, people!

Not only is it true that you do not have to be a member of NATO to be a member of the EU, but also, you do not have to be a member of the EU to be a member of NATO. Turkey, for example, is not a member of the EU.

The real question here is "What is the future of NATO?" Because NATO, we recall, was born under circumstances that no longer exist. It is an obsolete treaty and new realities loom that further erodes NATO's legitimacy. If the EU has any vitality, it has potential for being the foundation of a new military alliance for the European powers. But who else besides Serbia has sworn military neutrality?

Let us hope that events tend towards an equilibrium of peace in Europe. A new relationship with history is being formed everywhere in the world. There is some resistance but the momentum is there to sweep it away.

I also think that Serbia doesn't want membership in NATO. For example, Austria, Cyprus, Finland,Sweden are in the Union, but are not a part of NATO - so obviously there is no requirement to join both of these organizations. We must try that political, social and economic reforms implied in the process of joining one organization have a positive impact on the accession to another. The most important is the rule of law and the fight against corruption and organized crime.

those Vucic's words about military neutrality of Serbia had a sense. to be part of any alliances isn't any guarantee for surely integration in EU. That is wise decision and maybe can be harder path. About the security in Kosovo, I am not sure what does it that include exactly. Who is protected there and how?
(show, 21 November 2013 14:46)

Protected?
What is protected, is Southern Europe's security! During the 1990s, the civilized & democratic world experienced first hand a barbaric & aggressive Serbia that was intent on expanding her territory, thru genocide & ehtnic cleansing of different ethnic groups, in different regions of Southern Europe!!! I think That should pretty much answer your question!

Upon signing of an agreement on military cooperation between Kosovo and Albania, in view of the fact that Albania is a NATO member, Stamatopoulos said that NATO remains fully committed to the protection of security in Kosovo as part of its KFOR mission, pursuant to UN Security Council Resolution 1244.

An excellent analyzes, Point well made!
