Russian minister assured Serbia won't join NATO

A wise Vucic's decision. We shouldn't be a supporter of any military organisation because we learnt from the past that it's wrong. The best we can do is to cooperate with everyone.

Not because of that what is Russia saying, but it is wise decision to stay out of any conflicts and not to be part of any alliances in the future.....In generaly speaking we should learn from our past, if we had avoided wars and various conflicts we would have more than 15 million people up to day.......

The americans have announce the 'upgrading' of their Europe based B-61 nuclear bombs. They've already promised that they would not deploy any new nuclear weapons, so they've designated the new bombs as upgrades.

Several European countries are quite unhappy about this. It is only going to become a bigger story. It will be interesting to see how quickly Belgian, Dutch & German citizens will mobilize to stop any of these coming back. The US could of course redeploy them to the Baltics or Poland but this would cause other problems. Either way, NATO is in for hard times. Hopefully the cold war dinosaur won't survive.

NATO is not an orginization with the sole purpose of protecting itself. Its other purpose is to project Western power globally. Serbia can not gain from that, just lose men money and soverignty. Serbia faced the balkan wars alone and is starting to rebuild itself through economic co-operation and through seeking new partners and friends. This is the best way to have peace and stability. Serbia does not need NATO, foreign wars, and can not benefit from them

Serbia needs a modern army, it would not surprise me that our staff begin to study in Russia.

Serbia sould not have short term memory regarding Nato involvment, taking part of serbia and giving it to Albania, never forget never forgive, be wise in future.

The Russians want to send a clear message to the west that they have returned to the world power stage and what better way than saying hands off Serbia because she belongs under Russia’s sphere of influence than having Belgrade state it will not join NATO. Serbia’s neutrality will only last for as long as the Russians want it to last. Why sign military agreements with Russia if you’re neutral?
With these agreements Russia is also sending a more subtle message to Washington and Berlin that it will not tolerate further interference or disintegration of Serbia otherwise they will send more than just fire fighting equipment to their base in Nis.

Serbia has been dragged into too many conflicts. Let the bigger countries duke it out, and stay out of it. Serbia finally has a strong leader at its forefront. Hopefully, Russia will sell us some MIGs :)

Like Sweden in all but name, for the time being, Serbia is already under NATO occupation. They eventually got all they demanded in exchange for not slaughtering Serbs but went on and did it anyway. likewise in Iraq and Libya. Serbia will not be anschlussed to €USSR any time soon, they had all they possibly could ask for from Serbia, and then some, without having to give anything in return, let alone pay reparations for their war-crime attack, but Serbia will officially be "pimped" with the NATO logo and send her sons to die in NATO colonial wars...

I don't get this. Why does Russia need assurances about that?! As the CE of B92 forums sj has already shown with convincing evidence, NATO is all p... and wind, so country X or Y joining NATO is totally irrelevant for the only true superpower Russia.

Serbia will be a thorn in the side for NATO in the Balkans. For Serbia to have a successful neutrality status she will need to encourage Russia, China and other non NATO countries to invest in industries in Serbia but at the same time keep on friendly terms with NATO. Keep your friends close but enemies closer.

If that is so, why is Putin letting South Stream go through Serbia, and why is Vucic negotiating buying of MIGs ?? So what, are claiming that Putin is an idiot so he doesn't know where Vucic's loyalty lies? Conspiracy theories don't always make sense

The real reason is that Serbia cannot engage in any more warfare for the next 50 years due to what happened in the 90's.

NATO is only still around because the US of Piss and Wind is still trying to cling onto power in Europe. NATO has had its butt truly kicked in Afghanistan and they’re now preparing to leave and making up a story about their great success when even a hard-line right winged politician like the Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott said after his recent visit to Afghanistan that it was a waste of time “as we have achieved very little”.
If you don’t understand what it means for a battle group like NATO to lose a major conflict then I can’t help you.
You will also note the Piss and Wind is trying to make itself look good by helping the Philippines when the US has not repaired the damage done by Katrina 8 years ago let alone the damage done by the more recent cyclonic weather in New York.

NATO will never accept any country such as Serbia that is in a continued disintengration process.

If Serbia became a member then NATO would be obligated to defend Serbia's BORDERS.

NATO knows Serbia well having extensively deposited aerial gifts in 1999...........
