My father is 86 and he served in the first Yugoslav army from 1945 to 1949 and he spent all his time in Kosovo and Macedonia. A little story he likes to tell – on the border with Albania in Macedonia they had an army base and near that base was a village. Every evening shots would be fired from that village at the base. After about a month of this, orders from Tito himself came – go in and wipe it out. That’s exactly what happened. No more problems.
There are many Albanians that are still loyal to Belgrade. Look at all those villages near Shar Planina. They refuse to accept rule by Pristina.

As Kosovo was considered a poor province unlike, now where its cup has runeth over with the streets of Pristina paved with gold since the US arrived there, Albanians paid for very few services and those that they did pay were so heavily subsidised it cost more to produce a bill than to give it away for free.
A minimum of 4 to 5 Saturdays per year were worked and all the wages went towards Kosovo but I imagine you don’t recall that one either, but if you want to keep your head up your proverbial backside that’s you problem. In later years after Tito’s death things changed dramatically and you then had to pay for these services.

The military exercise were held during Hoxha's time,but the purpose was to protect albanian border if the pro russian forces would have won the war in YU and Hoxha himself urge K-Alb in russian will atack Albania be ready to fight before they reach Albania. Hoxha himself mention several times the plans of russians to attack Albania,after Tito's death.There are several videos in youtuve when Hoxha talks about that.
As for croatian offer,this is true,but the refusal by Rugova and berisha was not because Rugova didnt want war.The refusal was bacause if Kosovo will opened the secodn front,serbs will unite and leave Croatia'front and take care Kosovo with ethnic cleansing.The secodn reason was that US at the time didnt have the EU support to open the second front in Kosova.

2- During that period great preparation were made.. Big military exercises were held near the border of Yugoslavia involving 150.000 troops or more.
3- Large protest in Kosovo were held in '81 after the death of Tito, with the hope that this would trigger something similiar in other parts of Yugoslavia, and degeneratet in war. Hoxha died in 1985. If he was alive during the wars of the nineties probably something could have happened. Anyway, the Plan was never implemented... (in its entirely)..:)
- Another fact that not a lot of people know, was that Albania recieved an offer from croatians and other friends to take part in the preparations for operations "storm" in 1995 with the intent to open another front in Kosovo etc.. But Berisha refused, 'cos at that time Kosovo was ruled by Rugova who didn't want war. After the things changed, and Albania too. We were not able anymore to afford large scale of military operations. Is not that even before when we had much bigger capibilities this meant that we would have won. Albanians from Albania flooded into Kosovo to escape the backward conditions in Albania. Albanians should erect a statue of Tito in downtown Pristina right next to Bill Clinton's. As Kosovo was considered a poor province unlike, now where its cup has runeth over with the streets of Pristina paved with gold since the US arrived there, Albanians paid for very few services and those that they did pay were so heavily subsidised it cost more to produce a bill than to give it away for free.
A minimum of 4 to 5 Saturdays per year were worked and all the wages went towards Kosovo but I imagine you don’t recall that one either, but if you want to keep your head up your proverbial backside that’s you problem. In later years after Tito’s death things changed dramatically and you then had to pay for these services.

The only reason a large number of Kosovar Albanians supported Tito, was not because of your fairytale & imaginary handouts to them it was because, Tito understood that to have a functioning Yugoslavia, the rights & will of the Kosovar's had to be respected! This is true that Hoxha was afraid that YU will disintegrated,but atacking YU was not in his plans.
He used Kosovo issue for its own interests to be in power.
First he kicked out russians from Albania and as an exchange NATO let him do whatever he wanted in Albania.
He put in jail all nationalists and pro Westerns and executed nearly all of them.
In 1981 he used Kosovo issue to get rid of PM Mehmet Shehu accusing him as UDB agent.Shehu was the main candidate to replace Hoxha after his death but Hoxha's wife didnt like him,so Shehu even though he fought in Spain against Franko and was practically the comander of National Libration Army who fought against italians and nazis,and PM for 20 years,one day in 1981 he was accudes as UDB agent!!!
Hoxha's claim that was Shehu who pushed K-Alb in 1981 to start demonstrations and this was premature with the orders of UDB, which wanted to kill albanians.
After Shehu's suicide and Hazbiu's excecution,Hoxha was the only powerful man in Albania without someone in the second place.
Hoxha never wanted to attack YU.He was smart, not stupid.He just used Kosovo issue to purge the party.

Our Dear Leader started having many plans by the end of his life with his health deteriorating and his mind slowly leaving him. At one point he called the communist party leaders in Italy and offered to help them overthrow the Italian government in a bolshevik style 1917 revolution. Just imagining how that call went makes me smile. "Hello, this is Hoxha, I have a proposition for you..."

1- This plan existed, this is a known thing.
2- During that period great preparation were made.. Big military exercises were held near the border of Yugoslavia involving 150.000 troops or more.
3- Large protest in Kosovo were held in '81 after the death of Tito, with the hope that this would trigger something similiar in other parts of Yugoslavia, and degeneratet in war. Hoxha died in 1985. If he was alive during the wars of the nineties probably something could have happened. Anyway, the Plan was never implemented... (in its entirely)..:)
- Another fact that not a lot of people know, was that Albania recieved an offer from croatians and other friends to take part in the preparations for operations "storm" in 1995 with the intent to open another front in Kosovo etc.. But Berisha refused, 'cos at that time Kosovo was ruled by Rugova who didn't want war. After the things changed, and Albania too. We were not able anymore to afford large scale of military operations. Is not that even before when we had much bigger capibilities this meant that we would have won. In war nothing is given, but for sure albanians in Kosovo woudnt have suffered as much as they actually did.. Crazy times though,huh..
