"Hungary’s public broadcasters violate European principles"

The 2010 overhaul of Hungary’s media laws set a dangerous precedent in Europe, the South East Europe Media Organization (SEEMO) has said in a statement.

Now I am curious what people will say about the disgraceful end of MALÉV.
Disgrace #1: EU's role
Disgrace #2: Impotence of Orbán & Co regarding MALÉV
Disgrace #3: in true tradition of Hungarian leaders and everyone who is close to the bowl with the goulash MALÉV "successfully" scammed the customers telling them to buy the tickets even yesterday in the evening. Today early morning... no MALÉV, not even chapter 11 process finished, just all airplanes grounded and few thousand people scammed.

Best quote of the day: "just regard that MALÉV ticket as being scammed by the police for alleged speeding". Now I am speechless indeed because now not even Dohány Street can be blamed. Just what I wrote so many times and some got offended: doing business or even merely living in Hungary means, you have to deal with being scammed on a daily basis. The most common approach: "if you are scammed by someone, scam back whom you can".

The press writes that there are 757000 people who were essentially scammed by the management.

Of course the ones who paid by a credit card are the lucky ones, in particular who use foreign (non-Hungarian) credit cards because there is probably no worse credit card as the one issued by a bank in Hungary. Guess, why.

At one time the best airline of the Central Europe - and what a disgraceful end.

Thanks for your usual low life comment Radek. Watch out for and don't miss any news including the word "Hungary" so that you can express your anti-Hungarian sentiments. Be it the weather, media or sport, go for it. Just go with the flow, and join the ranks, it is trendy these days anyway to deliver some punches into Hungary.

Man you are too touchy.Cool down I did not mean to hurt anybody just tried to give an advice. It is fact that after americans hungarians spend most time watching TV and in general they are too media obsessed. That is indicated by statistics and my own experience as well. When I speak to hungarian kids I am horrified how little they know about their great musicians like Liszt,Kodaly or Bartok and how well they are informed about the life of reality show celebs and what a little percentage is involed in regular sport activity and reading.Belive me it is not a good trend and you magyars should do something with this phenomenon.A tv watching lifestyle especially when you watch low level programs may very easily develop a negativ thinking personality.

Most hungarians are hevily overweight,so instead of watching TV they have an opportunity to do sports now.Always look at the bright side of life.Less Tv watching, more fitness, imroved optimism which magyars lack anyway.

Uh-oh.

#1: my wife (actulally she is more pro-Albanian tough) looks better with every year passing, I think I made a very good choice. Wasn't that apparent many years ago as she was rather an ugly duckling, now she is super. The pro-Albanian stance is forgiven for the other benefits I have.

#2: we watch the Russian TV lately more, than Hungarian. Certainly more optimism there but it's freely available all over the country, just buy (once) a satellite dish for under 50 000 Forint.

Some of the Hungarian TV program is actually pretty cool, better than the American.

My largest complain is about the (lack of) of quality U.S. TV here, but maybe just because I am a cheap skater from Dohány Street and just don't know what is out there. The TV programs offered to the large public do have the problems you describe but there are some neat workarounds.

All this regardless that I don't like the mood in the country and where you are 100% correct is the (lack of) the optimism.
