Staff: “Many people I know and work with (also from US and UK) believed before that Kosovo will be a state. Today, there is a handful that still believes so”

That may be exaggerated, but nevertheless it is clear that Thaci has egg all over his face for pulling off this stupid, pointless and tragic stunt.

However, the Serb victory had already been 95% achieved days ago, before a bunch of lunatics – organised by some Serbian crooks up north according to Blic – burnt down the checkpoint, leading to several days when it seemed possible that Thaci was again going to emerge victorious despite himself. Only a mixture of luck and Belgrade going out of its way to distance itself from these thugs led to the second victory.

If I was a conspiracist I would say that Thaci must be a Serbian agent in the Kosovar govt and those “Serb extremists/crooks” that tried to turn victory into defeat must be Albanian agents. All in all, a bizarre episode in which a life was lost for nothing. Appalling all round.

Well it's not a North Korea with South Korea border. It's no reason to punish some poor Serb people from Kosovo. This politician who claims has achieved something is claiming he has pay-check from Serbian government for another month and the longer the situation remains tense this person will have a job.

Same old Serbian rhetorical psalms, but Serbian government will have to sit on the table once the pressure is mounted from other regional countries.

It took six days and then it was back to almost normal. What has this circus gained?
One life of a low paid police officer that was following orders from a "soon to be in jail for 30 years" gangster, was lost. Also, Kosovos leaders lost support from 30-40 countries (according to France). A big applause for the Serbian government who played this turmoil to their advantage. Extremely well done with a whole lot of political and diplomatic experience and maybe a little luck.
Kosovo on the other hand, is further away from becoming an own state than it has ever been. All UN, EU, all countries wonder how stupid one might be to send ethnic Albanian police to try to take control over something THEY consider as border crossings. There arent any border crossings since Serbia and the vast majority of the whole world countries DO NOT recognize Kosovo as a state but as a Serbian province.

“This move could indicate KFOR's return into the framework of the mandate that stems from United Nations Security Council Resolution 1244,” Ivanović told Tanjug.

only in your dreams! KFOR didn´t even let Borislav Stefanovic and Goran Bogdanovic into kosovo and he is talking about 1244. Take a rakija and chill

Well, KFOR was never outside its mandate: that's for the UNSC to say, not Oliver

Not sure what everyone is cheering about here. The trucks and goods are still not allowed to drive through because Pristina has banned it for now. Nobody has a problem with the everyday Serb in Kosova. Its understandable that they opened the border to cars and citizens. Its good to see that they are still carrying on with the trade embargo. Good job Kosova!

KFOR's only legitimacy for being in the area as "peacekeepers" in UNSC resolution 1244, and the head of the UN recently said all activity must be consistent with 1244. Thus, KFOR was ordered to obey the law and allow movement. KFOR seems to have forgotten that it's there under UN mandate and the UN does not recognize Kosovo, nor does the EU: Kosovo is illegitimate, and will remain so on the world stage. Serbia does not need the EU and it already is a member state of the UN. Let's negotiate for about 50 years: is it guaranteed the EU will still exist at all in in its present constitution? No. If Serbia recognizes Kosovo, is it guaranteed that Serbia enters the EU if it still exists? No..the EU will "change its mind". Wake up, Serbia.
