If they were to ask that question now the answer would most likely be that they have to recognise Kosovo but in time that might change.
This is why they are not asking now. The government knows that they would be severely punished at the next election if they pushed for an answer which is not positive now because they wasted far too much time and handed over people to the Hague for nothing.

If you believe that the elephant is truly afraid of the mouse, then you are right Mr. Stefanovic.

Too bad the elefant is suffering one financial heart attack after another!
They should better worry about themselves not to loose their last shirt,if they believe that they will strongarmus on Kosovo with the prospect of entering a bancrupt EU which is in the fase of demolition and demise they must be living on planet Mars!

Russia and China will own them completely by 2015,after that date they won`t be able to whisper without the excplicite wish of our allies!

Probably Serbia will convince all 22 EU MS to cancel the recognition of Kosovo. Do you agree that this is a strategic goal of Serbia?

Once those 22 EU country's expel 100% of albanians (doesnt matter if they are from Kosovo or not) then you will see them start cancelling their recognitions.

To accept the existence of this ethnic Albanian state within the territory of Serbia would be utterly wrong.

'Kosova' is not even the end goal. The udi is an interim condition which has arisen because of Albanian ambition to take Kosovo into Albania.

Albanians were ethnically cleansing Serbs from Kosovo long before Milosevic.

Milosevic was wrong in his handling of the nationalist politics of the Balkans, but that does not justify the nationalistic Albanian provocations for the war which were used to justify the bombings.

Serbia is now moving towards being a well balanced state with the EU community - but that does not give any reason for expecting that an Albanian take over of a key Serbian province should be allowed to sustain.

The EU will not make the demand for recognition, although a few of the stronger players my try to force it. If that happens, Serbia should just sit back, delay entry and wait until that game is played out.

What should also be made clear by Serbia is that it expects the EU to accept that Kosovo will not be treated as a state within the EU either now or in the distant future.

It is not just a question of Serbia not accepting the udi - the EU needs also to accept the expectation that in the longer term there will be a return to normality of governance in Kosovo under Serbia.

UN 1244 is currently under breach because of the udi. I am surprised that Serbia does not simply derogate 1244. However given that 1244 is still being used by Serbia, the governance of Kosovo should not be by a so-called 'independent' government.
