Right wing Serbian nationalist propaganda, of which there is an inordinate amount here, is the most insidious, the most poisonous and the most reprehensible that I have ever seen in 58 years on this planet. The Serbian Orthodox Church, for example, shows a sickening disregard for the truth, spewing forth an inexhaustible stream of lies and vitriol. As someone who was brought up Christian, I am ashamed to be even distantly associated with these corrupt and pernicious people. I lived in Kosovo for a year and have had a close association with its people for many years and I found them to be courteous, hospitable, inventive and hard working, when there was work to be found.

I cannot understand what fuels the Serbian extremist invective and I find the deliberate and destructive lying that is their stock in trade (their default position: when in doubt, lie) dismaying, and I know that there are many reasonable, educated and liberal Serbs who feel ashamed of them. Look into your black hearts and do something daring - speak of things you know about, and speak the truth.
