No they don't have a full army, but then again there are many countries in the world which don't have armies. Since they are self governing they make their own decisions, the ICO has said that Kosovo will in the future be able to participate in the Olympics. Kosovo is currently in 7 Govt Organisations and that number is growing. Passport recognition is growing also Israel's passports are not recognised everywhere. Also Kosovo's recognition is about as fast as Macedonia's was. You see time is on Kosovo's side and that Kosovo is becoming apart of everyday life in the international community. Kosovar politicians are sat side by side Serbian politicians in international organisations and the number is growing.

Ian@11,
You say that Kosovo has all the features of a country. Like what? Do they have an army which is under control of the government? Do they make their own decisions of are the decisions made for them by UN? Can they participate in the Olympics of the World Cup?

Sure they had a representative in the Miss Universe pageant. Wow, big achievement. Something run by Donald Trump is very credible and most of the world would take that as a sign that they are now dealing with a real country.

Are Kosovo passports recognised in most countries of the world?

You see Ian, only a real country can say yes to the questions above. Some silly men playing dress up and pretenting to be cowdoys cannot be for real.

it is already a great achievement that they don't have to fear the Serbian police and all those paramilitary units

Joe, 1 September 2009 20:02)

I would hardly call it and achievement when some drug barrons and organ traffickers are left without adequate control.Well I know that for some over the big water it is good when Europe is weak and poisoned by drugs (among them kids in BP) but fortunately Europe is awakening(hopefully US will too) and order in right places will be restored sooner than some may expect.

Hi Ian, #11

I fully agree with your assessment. UN membership today would not alter the daily life of the average K-Albanians. There are hundred times more pressing economic problems to be solved. In the mean time however it is already a great achievement that they don't have to fear the Serbian police and all those paramilitary units, which used to torment them on a daily basis. The "mother country" can't hurt them anymore.

Yes but Kosovo has all the qualities and features of a country. Yes I think it is important for Kosovo to become a UN member, but what difference would it make if Kosovo became a UN member? What would physically change in Kosovo? How is Kosovo itself going to become more of a country by being in the UN?

The real fact is that Kosovo is a country even if some states don't currently recognise it.

Ian you're back.
Mate, if most of the world does NOT recognise Kosovo as a state how can it be a state. Stop sugarcoating it and say it the way it is. It is not some countries but MOST countries who don't recognise Kosovo.

BTW, your silly statement about Kosovo having a foreing minister blah blah blah is rubbish. They are all little kids playing silly games.
Without UN approval they have absolute nothing and can continue to play dress up.

The real fact is that Kosovo is a country even if some states don't currently recognise it. Kosovo operates a lot more like a country than Somalia does. If Kosovo was still de facto a Serbian province, then how come Kosovo engages in diplomacy, has a foreign minister, is a member of International Organisations? Arguably you could say that Kosovo is de jure still a Serbian province however I'd beg to differ.

Just to let you know, Holland refers to two provinces in the Netherlands and thus Holland not a "real state". Any real Dutch man knows this. This shows your real colours mate.

This 'offensive' is, as I mentioned in another article: to appease Albanians & keep them from supporting Kurti in light of last week's vandalism but it wont result in UN recognition & will DEMORALIZE Albanians & end up making extremism more popular in the long run, Albanian leaders know this & are just buying time.

Joe,

Most of the time what the "majority of world population" believes is not correct. There too you can apply the 20 / 80 percent rule. 20% are correct, 80% are wrong for a lot of reasons.(Joe, 31 August 2009 19:38)

This is what I have tried to communicate to you several times basicly. But what the heavily brainwashed US population believes is even less correct.Of course percentage always depends on topic.I am sure if people from all over the world had opportunity to taste Gundel pancakes or Bajai Fish Soup 90 percent would say that they are good. And well they would be correct.

Ataman, Joe,

Kosovo is a Serbian province. Rules by UN.

The Albanians may not like them (they are allowed to feel so!) but that's the fact.

That fact can change. But for the moment this fact is as it is.

And now start building up your provincial economy and reintegrate into Serbia!

Have a nice day.
Greetings from Holland! A real state!

Just to give you an example. In the fifties if the population of Africa would have been ask about communism the majority would have stated that it is something good. The reality was "something" different.

"According to electronic media in Priština, Beqiri said that Kosovo President Fatmir Sejdi and foreign policy chief Skender Hyseni"

The main problem are the names tough.
Kosovo President is Boris Tadic and Kosovo foreign policy chief is Vuk Jeremic. At least, that's what the majority of world population, the majority of countries and the international law does believe.

Of course, some can still say, Kosova është Naboo ( = the planet of Gungans). A good number of Americans does believe, the Star Wars is a true story. Probably more, than who ever heard about Hashish Tácsi bácsi.
